Now into our second decade, we are the hub of the community. An award-winning, volunteer-run village shop. we sell many locally produced goods such as:
But we're so much more than just a grocery store. We sell local art in our gallery, stamps, Sunday newspapers, and a fishmonger visits on Wednesday between 10.30-11.00. You can advertise your business for 50p a week on notice board (local community events are free to advertise). Free Wi-Fi is available and we are part of the Refill:Stroud Initiative for when you are in need of hydration.
We use suppliers such as Duchy Veg, Essentials Trading Co-operative and Wiltons to provide a range of quality and organic products. We also have a large budget range. So there is always a reason to come and visit.
We are located next to a fantastic, revamped play park. It has a great choice of play equipment. Allan Caudwell, chairman of Horsley Parish Council, said: "The shop is a place where parents can make teas whilst watching their children and it’s a perfect meeting place for after-school activities, dog walkers and ramblers; we want to encourage residents and visitors to come into the shop and try our great local produce."
We have a balancing act even with all of our helpful volunteers and sometimes struggle to find people to fill in all the hours needed to keep the shop running. So the larger pool of people we have to call upon the better. That's why we are looking for anybody who might be interested in joining our merry brigade here at Horlsey Community Shop. Payment comes in unlimited cups of tea & coffee!
